Once again double dry-hopped and styled in the hazy fashion, it almost doesn't matter which hops you use. Almost... With the success of Citra Monster, Mirror Twin brewing veers from their standard strength trends and takes a more sessionable approach to the Citra bombed New England-styled IPA.
Pale straw and pastel in its shallow shades, a creamy lather of cottony froth begins to build. But the magic begins as Lil' Citra Monster floods the nose with all-things-citrus and a backdrop of citronella and herb. As its crisp malts begin to skirt along the tongue, its mild cereal, honeysuckle and angel food sweetness acts as a light buffer from the hops.
But the hops once again win out quickly on the middle palate as its citrusy tone unleashes a flood of slightly under ripened orange, tangerine, and pink grapefruit. Hints of mango and passionfruit succulence make their way into the tangy fruit display much like a dry sherbet. The beer trends slightly bitter, herbal and pleasantly biting with suggestions of fresh grasses, hemp, lemongrass and sassafras.
Medium light in body and flirting with dryness the crisp cereal balance gives the orange a nearly tart, creamsicle softness. A finish of lemon leaf and orange peel trend medium long and slightly bitter on the after palate along with a bubbly and racy bitterness.
