With a tangier, sharper and more tantalizing hop acidity, the Lemon Drop hop variety makes its way into the Mirror Twin brewery with a single-hop New England-styled IPA.
With a light golden straw pour and a settling of heavy translucence, Lemon Drop It Like It's Hot builds a creamy ivory crown while teasing the nose with a citrusy, herbal and floral bouquet. As a creamy and light sensation of cereal, shortbread and honeysuckle grace the early palate, the early impressions are lighter and more succinct than usual for Hazy IPA.
As the malt sweetness and its fresh grain character start to dissolve, the Lemon Drop hops billow into a bold display of lemon, passionfruit, pear, lime and yuzu on the middle palate. Nearly tangy and wine-like with its sharper and lemony character, the near bitter finish comes with herbal suggestions of verbena, sassafras, cedar, fresh cut grass and fresh spruce.
Medium light and growing with a tangy bitterness, the Lemon Drop hop lives up to its name, trailing into a bittersweet finish with an afterglow of spicy bitterness that's redolent with lemongrass and pepper.
