Riding on the backs of others in the "Monster" series, Mirror twin turns to the pineapple fruit for a new tropical twist the their New England-styled IPA
Pouring with a similar translucent pale straw and cast in a dull matte finish on the glass, Pineapple Monster immediately captures the nose with a rich fruit filled scent that hinges on fruit punch and freshly baked upside down cake. A rich, creamy and generous sweetness of cereal and shortbread simmer on the early palate with a creamy buffer from the hops.
But the combination of hop and pineapple command the tastebuds as the ale leaps onto the middle palate. The luscious overtones of pineapple are upheld by the hops strong pineapple flavor and lesser orange, grapefruit and subtle sprucy taste. Trending herbal and tea-like, the late taste is filled a smooth bitterness that leans on verbena, fresh spruce and a nearly minty bite.
Full bodied and richly malted on the tongue, the beer's malty finish sides slightly with the cereal sweetness for a refreshing but off-crisp dryness. A linger of fruit peels makes the session pastry-like and with the medium long afterglow of jam and candied spruce.
