Giving their monster a sweeter side, Mirror Twin Brewing laces their Mosaic hop heavy, New England-styled IPA a honey dipped softness with added floral, fruity and friendly flavor.
Pale golden-orange and with a soft pastel glow, the frothy Honey Mosaic Monster rises to greet the nose with a mild flowery scent that aligns with citrus, tropical and herbal notes. With suggestions of green fruit and cannabis looming, the taste however, leads in with shortcake, honey and a general cereal sweetness.
As the honey and cereal create a mild Honey Smacks character, the hops soon rise to dominate the middle palate with a burst of lime, passionfruit, white grape, cider and green papaya. The citrusy zing and the exotic nature of tropical fruit offer a hoppy bitterness with peppery resins that carry onto the late palate like black tea, currant and cedar.
Medium bodied and trending a little fuller on the finish, the creamy ale takes a smooth bitterness into a gin-like spice to close along with a medium length aftertaste of fruit peels, tea and hemp.
