Yoohoo! The perfect chocolate and coffee beer does exist! Never again will we be torn between coffee, chocolate or stout, or at least until Mirror Twin's Imperial "pastry" Stout runs dry.
Pouring like cappuccino and even equipped with a dainty swirl of coffee-like creme, Caffeinated Puff man greets the nose with a generous and seducing scent of cake batter, sweet cream, coffee, chocolate and vanilla in a true pastry fashion. An airy sweet maltiness resonates first to the tastebuds with malted milk chocolate candies, vanilla cream, milkshake and honey in a savory cake-like first impression.
But with a somewhat lighter body, the airy sweetness soon gives way to a sweeter, roastier coffee flavor that simply breams on the middle palate like mocha latte. With a light and woodsy flavor to balance a modest portion of sweetness to reinforce its coffee-like earthiness and its soft soilish character. But intent on remaining sweet, savory and rounded, the late palate is gentle, off-cloying and characterful.
Full bodied but relaxed on the tongue, Caffeinated Puff Man finishes sweet, savory and robust, much like how the session started. A finish of vanilla and kahlua spice warms the palate and allows for a hint of hazelnut to show through a long but gentle aftertaste.
