A little sweet, a little spicy, a little fruity, a little hoppy and a little hazy. For the beer lover, what's there not to love? Mirror Twin's trek through Hazeapolooza takes them to habanero peppers and pineapple for one fine hazy ale.
You're So Hot, You're A Fineapple hits the glass with a turbidly hazy golden appearance casting a matte sheen on the glass. As its foam rises, the beer immediately teases the nose with cereal sweet scents, tropical fruit and that unmistakable chili spice with a sharp tingle on the senses. But sweetness wins the first impressions as the taste of honey, cereal and poundcake slather the early palate with rich maltiness.
The pineapple rises next to provide that succulent and somewhat exotic fruit flavor that marries up nicely with the tropical and citrus accented hops. A background of mango, passionfruit, orange and berries take the session in a sherbet-like direction. But the spice quickly builds and gives the fruit flavors an offset of simmering heat that taunts the late palate with sweat beading habanero warmth. Light bitterness comes with the spice for a reminder that this is still supposed to be an IPA at heart.
Medium bodied but seeming fuller from the linger of malt starches and cereal attributes, Yet, the spice gives the beer a lightness that suggests a greater sense of drinkability; just enough to take another quick sip to put out the head, then it all builds again for a vicious cycle in a quick drinking session. Its perfect for a pepperoni pizza pairing.
