Devilihly good, devilishly rich, devilishly complex and devilishly bourbon infused, there's a lot of details that go into Mirror Twin's Imperial Stout and the devil is in each and every one of them.
Very dark and tawny black, the slight thinning of the beer's appearance shows garnet and crimson highlights through its depths of darkness. Sweet, spicy and savory, Devil in the Details swoons the senses with hints of fudge, port, coffee, cream, caramel, whisky, oak and molasses with a singe pass of the nose. its first sip is equally as seducing with its leading malt sweetness that focuses on blackstrap molasses, chocolate, toffee, caramel and vanilla.
With the growing barrel influences, their nuances of coconut, vanilla, char, nutty, oaken and dried fruit flavors take the session into a sherry and port wine direction. As the malts thin out on the middle the roastier flavors of coffee, cocoa and roasted nuttiness pulls forward ahead of a slightly bitter finish fueled with whisky spice and peppery oak tannins.
Full bodied but still with an off-pastry sense of drinkability, the inky coat of the beer napes the full palate with booze soaked sweetness in a pleasantly cloying finish. There's probably some details here that even the devil hasn't found yet.

Didn't pour particularly dark or thicc, but never any head, though you can see a ring at the edge of the glass. Nose is heavy dark fruit and barrel char. Flavors are barrel, bourbon, roast, and the aforementioned dark fruits. Finish is sticky but not sweet, the bourbon bite arrives at the very end.
