Taking lazy to the juiciest side imaginable, Mirror Twin Brewing gives one of their original New England-styled IPAs a cryo makeover. With even more of what Citra, Mosaic and Amarillo have to offer, this lazy ale gets to work delivering all the fruit flavors without much of the hop salad.
Cryo Hopped Hazy But Lazy pours with a matte golden taupe color that carries the visual density of peanut butter. Lightly golden but turbid, the ale releases an eggshell, creamy froth that's laden with a host of citrus, tropical and an botanical perfumes. Equally as mouth watering with its mere scent, its floral twang leads to a honey rich, pastry and doughy sweet maltiness as the ale rolls onto the early palate.
As with the original Lazy ale, the beer blossoms on the middle palate while its malt influence remains intact and the hop aromas turn both radiant and juicy. Pink grapefruit, lime, and orange all carry a branch ripe character with the simple sweetness that's associated with fructose. Tropical flavors join the symphony with pineapple, mango and passionfruit. A melon-like plumpness adds a kiss of honeydew before the ale closes with a smoothly bitter taste of fresh cut grasses, currant, chive and geranium.
Creamy, medium bodied and trending dryish, the IPA does a premier job of celebrating hoppiness with a sharp and peppery bite that's both bitter and tannic. Its off-smooth finish makes its dry yet creamy in finish. Its long and herbal aftertaste is acute and peppery with tropical fruit peels and a suggestion of leaf and grass.
