Just because you're old enough to drink beer doesn't mean that you're too old for childhood treats. Mirror Twin Brewing brings out the kid in all of us with a mandarin, vanilla and lactose IPA that hinges on the stronger and spicier side.
It It Creamsicle or Dreamsicle? Whether its a question or a brand of beer, the results are a creamy citrus fragrance that's nearly as intense as popular candles, candy shops and fresh baked cakes. Light gold and held in a firm matte haze, the first sip fights through the foam for a taste of pastry dough, honey and vanilla cream.
The bold citrus flavors latch onto the middle palate with the richness of malt remaining for that high cakey sensation. All things orange lead to brightness of blood orange, tangerine and valencia varieties, all wrapped in a slight tropical nuanced taste of mango, papaya, peach and apricot. Deliciously smooth, the bitterness rises late to take an edge off of the sweet creaminess with a peppery, tea-like, verbena, grassy and sprucy hop finish.
Full bodied, creamy and rounded throughout, this smoothie IPA wins over the taste buds with that quintessential taste of creamsicle, but compared to traditional IPA it puts flavor way ahead of refreshment. Finishing bittersweet with a hint of chewable vitamin, a medium extension of bitterness slimly outlasts the cream and cereal.
