No matter which time of year, or what the temperature was today, or what you just drank, there's always room for barleywine for a nightcap or three.

Pouring deep garnet and mysteriously foggy, Be Careful Where You Fall floats a dense sheet of tarnish froth and hosts a bold array of dark sugars, dried fruit, coffee and cake. Sweet and savory on the tongue, the beer leads with a blend of molasses, coffee cake, brown sugar and candied pecan.

With a background of light coffee, cocoa and toasted bread crust, the sweeter upstart melds into a savory middle palate. As the stewing sweetness meets alcohol spice, there's a rise of dark, dried and pitted fruits that rise with plum, fig, dates, cherry and apple, all seem dehydrated and macerated. Mildly woodsy, bitter and herbal, a finish of fennel and sarsaparilla come with a chicory bitterness to close.

Full, lush and still drinkable, the dense ale has the session feeling specifically British with the balance more aligned with English Barleywine but with the drinkability of their Stock Ales or Strong Ales. A long linger of bittersweetness carries hints of tobacco and butter pecan once more.
