Brewed with Kentucky Proud agrarian products, Mirror Twin keeps things local by looking at Vienna. A lager brewed in that Central European style, this heartier take on light beer is a welcomed taste for simplicity with a little complexity.
Pouring a bright copper appearance, the bubbly South Fork Lager gets buys building a light ivory crown and a pleasantly toasty scent of bread crust, light nuttiness, floral honey and soft caramel. Similarly in taste, the malty-sweet upstart of honey, light caramel, toast and granola lead the way.
As the flavors wash the middle palate, the tastebuds soak in the slightly richer malt profile and wait on a balancing hop spice to bring a woodsy offset of the sweetness and bring a crisper edge to the finish. Trending toasty and with hints of hay and nuttiness, the flavors remain as characterful as it is refreshing.
Medium-light in body, the bolder malt flavors signal a beer of more weight, but its light and bubbly mouthfeel begs to differ. Reminding the palate of Sam Adams Boston Lager puts a toasty sweet spin in its brief aftertaste.
