Collaborating with Bear & the Butcher, Mirror Twin gets their hands on a select, one-of-a-kind Maker's Mark bourbon barrel that contributes the perfect bourbon and oak nuances that are woven into a rich and luscious imperial stout inspired by chocolate covered cherries.
Jet black and pouring like thatch, Elephant Tears patiently releases a dainty creme of espresso froth and a bold chocolate, whisky, coffee and cream scent. As its robust taste eases onto the tastebuds, the early palate is dessert sweet with bittersweet chocolate, brown sugar, molasses and heavy cream.
As the flavors roll along the middle palate, the firm flavor of cherries leap out immediately to provide a mild and tangy balance to the withstanding chocolate and cream sweetness. With a backdrop of graham cracker and marshmallow stewing in the backdrop, a toasted granola character adds to the dessert-like taste and steers the stout into the direction of espresso roast, woodsy bitterness and bourbon spice.
Finishing full, rich and pleasantly cloying, the pastry stout extends on the late palate with the expected coconut, vanilla, caramel and toasted oak barrel flavor with the spice that only bourbon barrels can provide.
