When there's no vacation plans on the docket, Mirror Twin can at least take the tastebuds on a tropical trip with their piña colada inspired blonde ale.
Pale and pastel in lemony yellow tones, the somewhat milky ale is short with froth but bold in aroma. A creamy sweet scent of vanilla and cereal wrap around pineapple and coconut with hints of citrus ahead of a cereal sweet taste layered upon sweet cream, candied coconut and light dough.
As the refreshing ale washes the middle palate, the malt and cereal sweetness begins to drop and the fruity flavors expand. Leading with pineapple, a bold a succulent tropical taste bleeds into lime, lemon and apple before rounding out with light cream, coconut and a slim citrusy bitterness to close.
Medium bodied and trending lighter and semi-dry, the ale does a nice job of capturing enough of the cocktail flavor without pushing into anything smoothie or slushy. I can't wait 'til my tastebuds get back to tell me how their trip went.
