You know that shitty light beer that we talk ourselves into liking when we're sitting by the beach in those tropical vacations. Well, Mirror Twin is taking the tastebuds on the same trip, only making the beer less shitty.
Brilliantly clear, very light- chrome even, La Coneja jumps right out with bubbly effervescence and a soft arid froth that sits atop. Light aromas of cereal and grain greet the nose along with a soft floral hop scent. Scantly sweet, the dry maltiness of the beer is cracker-thin and with hints of corn sweetness.
Much of that light and crisp flavor carries onto a carbonated "scrubbing" of the palate where the thirst is washed away and traded for a light carbonic bite. Fast fleeting sweetness is soon supplanted by mild apple and lemon esters and a fade to a pleasantly grassy hop bite to close.
Light, crisp and clean, the light Mexican lager is a premiere thirst quencher as it delivers exactly what's designed. Where underwhelming on flavor, that's not why we reach for these typed of beer. Its simply a thirst quencher with a hint of relaxing booze.
