Teaming up with Cincinnati area Streetside Brewery, Mirror Twin steers away from the hazy tendencies and creates a collaborative bitter, drier west-coast styled IPA to show that they are on more than a one way road.
Two Way Street becomes the birth child of this interstate booty-beer-call as it pours moderately hazy with a rich gold, nearly yellow color. As its creamy white froth pulls from the beer, a classic scent of citrus, pine and soft tropical fruity lead the aromatic way. Sweetened with hints of honey, shortcake and light bread, the early flavors are moderately sweet and simple.
As the hops grow on the middle palate, the bolder flavors of white grapefruit and orange peel shine on the tastebuds. As hints of guava, passionfruit and kiwi shows a flare of newer and more hazy hops, the taste veers into a more bitter than usual direction with pine, spruce, fresh cut grass, green tea and verbena lingering long and lean on the finish.
Medium bodied, and perhaps splitting the difference between what’s bitter and what’s hazy, Mirror Twin simply cannot help themselves, looks like they do drive both ways.
