Teaming up with Burl Brew once again, Liquid Swords gets a redux with the help of Nelson Sauvin, Riwaka, Rakau and Citra hops for a racy spin on the first New Zealand rendition.
Pouring a deep and lemony gold, Liquid Swords 2 builds a creamy white froth and a boldly aromatic perfume of citrus, melon, vinous fruit, herb, tropics and berry. As it's cereal sweetened taste coats the tongue with shortcake, coconut, vanilla and cookie dough, the hops rise to shift the balance toward fruitiness. Branch-ripe oranges link up with lemon and grapefruit for a racy citrus taste only to be followed by passionfruit, kiwi and lychee. Gooseberry and hints of white wine add nuanced flavors before draping in a blanket of honeydew ahead of a moderately bitter finish of sassafras, green tea, verbena and hemp.
Full bodied, rounded and creamy, the ale finishes with a spice of botanical gin and leafy hop bitterness for a strong and steady hop bomb.
