Taster at brewery. Pale golden pour, small frothy head sudsides to ring. Aroma and taste offer light, grassy notes and yeasty elements. Mellow savory spice too

a hoppy french saison, simple and clean, as the name suggests, not too estery on the yeast but still distinctively winey and familiar as a 3711 type ale yeast. great clarity here and brightness in the glass. nice carbonation, pure white head hangs out awhile before slowly relaxing. the yeast drives the aroma and the flavor, which is why i am taken by surprise so much in the finish, the hops kind of seem to come up out of nowhere, and they have a great feshness to them, citrus zest, some bitterness too, its a cool late flavor climax i am not used to in the style, especially a clean fermented saison like this, and i like it quite well. the grain base is really basic, so the beer isnt all that interesting, which kind of makes it more impressive in the sense that there is nowhere for any flaws to hide. pear and white wine notes to the yeast, green spiciness to the hops, and a basic crackery malt base, tidy and drinkable beer, nice and low alcohol, seems right for spring and summer. i was impressed with both beers i had in here, and am already planning a return trip to drink through more of their menu! i rarely enjoy clean saison this much!
