This Mexican inspired dark lager was brewed with flaked maize, a touch of specialty malt, and Spalter Select hops for a fine balanced bitterness. Brewed in collaboration with our friends from Modern Times Beer.

16 oz. can purchased from Lifesource Natural Grocers in Salem OR.
$3.79
Darker amber body..clear with a huge rocky/frothy cream colured head.
Aromas..lagerish with slightly toasty malts..a little coffee and some brown sugar. Nice.
Taste a tad more bitter and a tad more toasty..very good really.
Mouth feel is very nice..got loads of carbonation and a dryish finish..some long lasting bitterness in the after taste
A nice Bohemian Dark..well hopped for the style

Look: Very dark amber-red – leaning towards brown, look clear but too dark in color to see through and a billowing eggshell colored head recedes leaving spotty lacing
Aroma: Malt leads the pack – bready, a little sweet, Vienna (?) malts, slight wafts of floral and grassy hops throughout
Taste: Freshly baked brown bread, a little nuttiness, toffee, hops intermixed well – present but letting the malt have the spotlight. Super clean and crisp with a slightly dry finish. Very flavorful for how light it feels on the palate
Mouthfeel: Medium-high carbonation, clean and crisp but never leaning towards watery
Overall: This is one enjoyable beer. Tasty as hell, perfect for this warm evening, and a great take on a dark lager that I didn’t know until I was looking at the can pre-purchase, is a collaboration with Modern Times as well. Ruse is new to me having only had maybe one other beer from them so far but I dig Modern Times and this is taking them both up a notch in my book for their effort on this delicious ‘Bohemian Dark Lager.’ A winner
