Canned 16 Sept, purchased at Uptown Market.
A clear amber with a dense beige head that falls off to a ring rapidly, this looks solid. The nose is solid. Toasty, mildly caramel, toffee, an earthy hop character with mild lemon. Less of a melanoidin flavor than I was expecting, and a little more caramel. Hops are quite pronounced. The palate opens mildly bitter and mildly sweet, with a firm earthy, mildly twig like hop bite that leads into a nice toffee and toasted bread character. There's mild caramel flavor, though the sweetness is thankfully reserved. The midpalate and finish are quite watery, with the lack of structure from a melanoidin/Vienna rich malt base distracting. Flavors of toast and mild lemon linger. Carbonation is high, lending a mild acidity to the fizzy texture. Solid.
