500ml bottle on the ICE train from Berlin. Pours a semi-pale yellow. Hast aromas of sour dough and hay. Taste is clean nice smooth Helles. Nice change after all of thoose bitter Pils.

When you are thirsty, it is hard to say anything bad about a beer.
So it is with Starnberger's Hell. But it also may be that this is a very good Hell. Let's think on that.
This Hell has a pretty gold bod, but not much foam sticks around. Smells are mostly malt, but that's what I like. Late entry hops is what I like even more, and this Hell does that well. Light-to-medium-mouthed, this Hell still is nicely refreshing.
As for my micro-review of Starnberger, I wish I could find the English button so I know what motivates them. But visually, they don't seem much different than most other Munich metro brewhouses. However, I'm glad that Starnberger was in the train's restaurant car and not just Bitburger. Prost!

Pours a filtered golden color with a huge, spongy head.
Smells big times of noble, herbal hops, featuring a big amount of fresh garden herbs, spruce and dry leaf. Got a coppery maltiness to it, together with young straw.
Has a higher carbonation with a soft, refreshing finish, while its light body is defined by sweet hay from beginning till the end.
Taste remians pretty thin throughout with its effervescent carbonation during the mid palate being the most recognizable thing for most parts. The beer got a solid sweet malt foundation to which dried straw gets added. Hops from the nose are almost invisible flavorwise and add just a very light note during the finish, not being able to overcome the malts in any way.
Good for very warm summer days to cool off, otherwise its too thin to be enjoyable on its own, as it lacks balancing crispness as well.
