Inspiration can at times come from desperation. Lime Creamsicle IPA - was dreamt up during a semi-hallucinogenic heat wave daze that demanded ultimate thirst quenching satisfaction. *contains lactose

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Jul 17 2025 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a foggy yellow-blonde colour, topped with just under a finger of loose, foamy white head that disintegrates within two minutes. A frothy collar is left behind, encircling an islet of filmy suds; minimal lace deposition. Smells quite citrusy and a little acidic due to the lime, but I'm also getting hints of grainy malts, wheat and lemon yogurt.
A light, refreshing, citrusy session IPA. Right off the bat I'm getting lime juice, alongside hints of bready malts, wheat and grainy sweetness. The lime transitions to more of a zesty note later on, with suggestions of stone fruit, lemon yogurt and a kiss of lactose sweetness at the finish, followed by a dry conclusion. Light-ish in body, with average carbonation levels; the mouthfeel is smooth, soft, and fairly generous for 4.4%. Genuinely crushable.
Final Grade: 3.77, a B+. Lime Creamsicle IPA leaves me feeling conflicted: I think they did a pretty good job of nailing the expectations of the gimmick, and there's no doubt that this would be exceedingly refreshing on a hot summer afternoon. Even more interestingly, there's no lime (or 'flavours') in the ingredients list - which leaves open the possibility that the lime notes are 100% hop-derived. Maybe they simply forgot to list it? But really, that's all beside the point: I just didn't feel like I was drinking an IPA at all, really. On the other hand, I liked this brew, and so I'm inclined to cut it a sizable amount of slack. I'd buy this again, at least until the hot summer weather starts to subside.
