Presentation: 16 oz. can with no dates, served in a Munique glass.
Appearance: The one finger head stays around for a while and goes down into a thin ring that stays until the end. It leaves behind a lot of lacing in patches and spots all over the glass. It's a hazy, bright orange-gold color.
Smell: It's a strong, floral, hoppy aroma with hints of fresh citrus peel and some grains the background.
Taste: It's juicy and fruity with a lot of citrus character at first. There's kumquat, orange, lemon and pineapple. There's some bitter hop resin in the aftertaste and a slightly sweet, malt blanket that wraps everything up nicely.
Mouthfeel: It's smooth and very refreshing with a medium body and medium-low carbonation.
Overall: A nice and refreshing double IPA that highlights the kumquat on the palate really well. This makes for a very fruity and quite easy to drink beer despite the hefty, 9% ABV.
