Oat of this world, small batch brewed. 6.0%, 50 IBU, ‘Anvil Small Batch Series’. 473ml in their classic hard aluminum beer bottle cans.
I have to be honest, I had this after having a couple of their other beers. I dislike rating beers in that state, drinking them is fine! But you lose a lot of the taste when you’re a few deep.
That being said, it had a wonderful roasted aroma, the IBU (as nebulous as it is) shouldn’t intimidate you as it’s not too bitter. Balanced between a roasted toffee like bitterness and mild hop bitterness. The oats come through especially in the body, which mingles nicely with the lighter carbonation and smooth mouthfeel. Nothing crazy but you can taste the freshness of the ingredients and it’s a great easy drinking oatmeal stout.
