Mocha Java is brimming with intense coffee aroma and flavor, with an enticing hint of sweet cocoa in the background. Balancing the java is a rich porter beer brewed with two types of chocolate malt and specially selected cacao nibs. This delicious porter will get you through your busy day.

12oz can. Canning date is stamped on can bottom as 'CANNED ON 09-20-2022'.
Dark brown to black colored body, with mahogany back lit edge. Two fingers of tan head, which settles back to a thin cap. Leaves behind some scattered spots and small webs of lacing.
Aroma is strong black coffee, with a background touch of sweet cocoa.
Taste is strong black coffee that gets more bitter at the end. Trying to balance, but not getting there, is the sweet chocolate flavor. Coffee still dominates in the aftertaste.
Thinner than medium mouth feel. Has a drying effect and gets close to being chalky. Good carbonation.
Certainly lives up to the "Java" part of the beer's name, but could use more expression of the "Mocha" (chocolate).

Appearance: Pours a dark, nearly completely black color with a massive, dark tan head. SRM of 24. (4.00)

Aroma: Strong aromas of coffee roast, some hints of roasted cocoa behind it. Strong coffee. (3.50)

Flavor: Strong flavors of coffee, roasted coffee grounds, some cocoa. Dry, slightly bitter coffee roast. (3.25)

Feel: Medium-bodied, low carbonation, kind of thin, some coffee roast bitterness lingers. (3.25)

Compared to Drekker Morning Ritual 1/2023: Pours similar, larger head. Milder aromas. More bitter coffee roast and grounds Less smooth chocolate and cocoa. Dryer and more bitter.

Overall: Strong coffee and roasted notes here. Slightly bitter and astringent. Leans too dry and needs more sweetness to balance the bitter coffee astringency. Sorry, but a drain pour here. (Rating: 3.36)

16oz can, date that was on the can holder escapes me - 09/22/18 seems familiar. Crazy towering light brown head caps a dark brown colored ale; tons of lacing sticks all the way down the glass. Great aroma of coffee, chocolate, and grainy malt. Big & bold flavors with coffee and dark cocoa front and center; dark grain, bread crust, earthy hops and a touch of char round out the flavors. Fuller body, ample carbonation, a bit chalky, balanced finish with cocoa lingering. This is a great beer! I will buy this again! So good!

Poured 16oz can into snifter. A beautiful obsidian color with a massive 3 finger Swiss cocoa colored head. Retention is fantastic and there is thick lacing all over the glass. I pick up the roasted malts with a nice milk chocolate and French vanilla coffee aroma. The cola scent I usually find in Porters is muted. This is tasty. I get delicious French vanilla coffee with milk chocolate. The roasted malts that were used in this are incredible. Very rich, creamy, smooth and medium bodied with terrific carbonation. Easy drinking and hard to put down! A damn nice Porter that took me by surprise. Well done Third Space, bravo!

L – Three finger head of dense tan foam, good lace, black color, head held up well, the can had a bottled on date,
S – Very pleasant roasted malt smell, not over powering but enough to be noticed
T – The roasted malts very much follows the smell, the coffee bitterness really comes through in the finish, has a nice lingering flavor
F – The body is rather thin but that is expected in a porter, mouth feel was in line with the style.
O – This is a very drinkable beer, very nice characteristics all the way around, I am not a fan of porters but this is one of the best I have had.
