A contemporary take on the Classic German Pilsner:
German Malts & Noble Hops.
Unfiltered & Naturally carbonated.
Crisp, light biscuit, lemon & . . . DRY!
(but not bone dry like the Germans like it).

12oz can, stange glass, looks like canned 6/15/23.

What I have in front of me is a medium gold, slightly hazy beer with a small white, rocky head.

An almost sharp black pepper note greets the nose and is backed up by some pungent grassiness and soft breadiness.

It’s grassy, slightly sweet, doughy, and goes out with some of that pepperiness. Soft in the mouth, that little bit of yeast makes a noticeable difference, reducing the crispness.

Soft and still dry, but not bone dry. Light to medium body with light but present carbonation.

This is one of those sum of the parts situations. I am enjoying this introduction. To Basic City, which I’d heard of, but hadn’t had the pleasure.

12oz can poured into a snifter

A- pours a hazy golden color with some bits floating around, one-finger foamy white head has good retention

S- doughy and cracker malts on the nose, followed by aromas of honey, grass, cracked pepper and a hint of floral hops

T- crisp pils malt up front gives notes of crackers and bread crust, followed by a hint of honey sweetness mid palate, the finish gives some grassy and slightly peppery hops, which continues into the linger

M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that continues into a creamy, full bodied finish

O- doesn't have the typical clean and crisp feel due to being unfiltered, but it also brings an array of full flavors

My ill-fated Shenandoah Valley trip had some silver linings. One was that the motel where I stayed was quite near the local Martin's supermarket, allowing me to scour their mix & match beer section for new CANs to mule home for The CANQuest (tm). This was one of those beers.

From the CAN: "Craft Sublime"; "Pilsner (Unfiltered)".

This was to be my first beerthday beer on my double nickels beerthday & so I Crack!ed open the vent & beCAN a slow, gentle C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass. It foamed beautifully to form just under two fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, eggshell-white head with excellent retention. Color was a beautiful Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7) with NE-quality clarity, enticing The Gelt Gang of Croesus, Midas & Mammon to take a break from birthday cake & ice cream to have a taste. Nose had a dry biscuity maltiness with just a hint of grassy Noble hops. Now, my mouth was watering! Mouthfeel was medium, but super-soft on the tongue. The taste was a tad sweeter than the nose had led me to expect, but it was well within spec for the style. It was closer to bready than biscuity, but you do not hear me CANplaining. Finish was semi-dry, highly refreshing & made me VERY glad that I had brought it home from my trip. I would want a) more of this & b) a ChANce to stop by the brewery if I am ever down that way again. YMMV.

Wheaty, notes of banana, cloves, touch belgianny esters, very nice full bodied flavor, bit of minerality on the finish, not boozy, touch of hay and grass on the finish as well, really good pilsner, though I am unrefined in the style, would love to have again

Duane, who is the pils drinker between us, thought this was excellent, although not up to Victory Prima.

Great pilsner. A little murkey and unfiltered the way beer was intended. Smells yeasty but taste sweeter with floral tone. Solid beer that I will drink again and again.

This beer needs a little attention, summing up briefly, if you like pilseners you will enjoy this. Solid effort at a German Pils, would drink again.
