Lemonade yellow with copious frothy off-white head with decent retention and good lacing with an aggressive pour. Awesome can art.
Hoppy aromas of melon, pineapple, and grapefruit dominate with some lemon-lime too.
Flavor is very enjoyable with grapefruit, lemon-lime, passion fruit, and pineapple coming together, albeit a little subdued and not as bright as several of Basic City’s other DIPAs (Bask, Opera). Pale maltbill provide a bit of malty sweetness which intensifies the peppery melon in the finish. Bitterness is low-medium to medium.
Feel is superb with a good combo of dryness and light-medium body with a lush mouthfeel overall. Slightly chalky in the finish which helps emphasize a dry finish.
TAS2R is another solid to excellent offering from Basic City. It falls middle of a very above average pack for me from their collection of DIPAs. They are doing a great job of treading a fine line between NEIPA and West Coast IPA, scratching the fruity hoppy itch while at the same time not wimping out on bitterness and dryness.
