Notes from Basic City’s beer menu:
“A classic west coast IPA featuring local Malt & Hops. Classic C Hops- Cascade, Centennial & CTZ”
Poured from a 12oz can into a Samuel Adams Perfect Pint. 10/21/20 stamped on bottom rim of can.
A: Medium amber with sturdy 1-2 finger frothy off-white head with good retention and a solid collar of lacing.
S: Strong aromas of medium caramel malt up front with mainly herbal and honeysuckle hop notes
T: Flavor is also solidly caramel malt-laden with some grapefruit and herbal hop notes. Reminds me more of a low-ester English IPA. Low yeast esters and moderate bitterness.
M: Despite the caramel malt character, the body is light-medium with moderate carbonation and a dry finish.
O: “Classic” WCIPA in the sense of 1995-classic — definitely a throwback.
