2/12/24. Poured into a Samuel Adams Perfect Pint.
A: Very clear medium-amber with 1-finger foamy off-white head with decent retention and scape of lacing.
S: Bready malty aroma with honey and sweetbread qualities.
T: Flavor is also malty and inviting with a heavy Munich malt-dunkel character. Honey comes out more in the finish. Some low-medium caramel really complements the bready malt character well. Hop bitterness is low. Clean without off-flavors.
M: A little heavy in body for either a Vienna lager or American amber lager ( I personally think it fits Vienna lager best) but still plenty drinkable.
O: Not surprised Basic City’s other lager offering s have been solid to very good - The Hornig is no exception.

Pours a slightly cloudy deep amber, nice off white head, retention is wanting, few spots of lacing
Smells like honey and toasted bread
Tastes like toasted multi-grain bread with honey
Medium bodied, lower carbonation, a touch sticky
A little too heavy on the palate for an amber lager, otherwise, an easy drinker for a cooler night.
