Pours a very dark brown, almost black, coloration with a small, fluffy head. Smells of lightly roasted malt, coffee, chocolate and lactic acidity. Taste is an excellent balance of lightly roasted malt and subtle coffee and chocolate notes, as well as a distinct citric acidity and just a hint of coriander and sea salt. Finishes with a medium acidity, light bitterness and subtle roasted coffee and chocolate lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
"Imperial Black Baltic Gose" really says it all and I think that this is an insanely brilliant take on the style because it's balanced so nicely and really works, with those subtle roasted malts and chocolate/coffee notes somehow harmonizing perfectly with the distinct lactic/citric acidity and rather light coriander and sea salt accents. It really is to Gose what the Black IPA is to IPA and just as I love Black IPA, I love now love Black Gose as well, even though I'm usually a bit leery of derivating too far from tradition when it comes to this style. Also, apart from this getting you hammered, there really isn't a hint of the ABV to this, which is amazing. An incredibly creative and well-balanced take on the style,
