Pours a pitch-black coloration with a small, creamy, mocha-colored head. Smells of roasted, caramel malt and rich dark chocolate and dark/red fruits, with notes of plum, fig and red currant, as well as lighter notes of vanilla, leather and hints of tannic oak. Taste follows the nose, with an excellent balance of roasted, caramel malt, rich dark, bitter chocolate and dark and lightly tart red fruit, with notes of raisin, fig, plum, cherry and red currant, as well as lighter vanilla and leather, with hints of licorice and musty, tannic oak. Finishes with a light tartness and sweetness, as well and some dark chocolate, dark/red fruit, vanilla and oak. Full mouthfeel with a rich body and light carbonation.
I think it's quite interesting trying all these different Tumeaine varieties aged in different barrels and while this is probably my least favorite of the versions I've tried so far, it's still an exceptional Imperial Stout with the typical roasted, dark chocolate notes of Tumeaine that feels a bit sweeter and dominated by heavy dark and red fruits, as well as tannic oak, giving a bit more of tart character to this that is balanced very nicely by some leather and licorice though, while also maintaining that rich body and full mouthfeel of Tumeaine. Overall, while I personally enjoyed the Laphroaig and Cognac editions much more, this still makes for a very rich and well-balanced brew that's a bit more heavy on the sweet and tart notes.
