Pours a pitch-black coloration with a small, creamy, mocha-colored head. Smells of roasted caramel malt, rich milk chocolate and lighter dark fruit, with notes of raisin and fig, as well as hints of vanilla, spice and oak. Taste is an excellent balance of roasted, caramel malt, quite rich milk chocolate, some dark fruit, with notes of raisin and fig, lighter brown sugar, vanilla and spice, with hints of nutmeg and cinnamon, as well as well as some musty oak accents. Finishes bittersweet, with a light bitterness and some roasted malt, milk chocolate and dark fruit lingering in the aftertaste. Full mouthfeel with a rich body and light carbonation.
Another excellent barrel-aged Imperial Stout from Pühaste that's rich and complex, yet with a sublime balance of sweet, bitter, roasted and slightly fruity and spicy notes. Comparing this to my memory of the original Dekadents, this actually seems less sweet and more spicy, which is great in my book, while the additional ABV does not make this feel a little, but not too boozy at all. The rum barrels really seem to come through nicely here with some spicy and woody notes that benefit the beer tremendously in my opinion and really add to the balance here without becoming too overpowering.
