Copenhagen 5/7 2022. 40 cl from tap at Taphouse, Lavendelstræde, Kbh, K.
Pours opaque dark brown with a small, bubbly white head. Disappears completely after a short while.
Aroma is fairly intense with a sweet, slightly sugary malty odor mingling with earthy notes. Brown sugar, toffee and salty licorice. Whiff of tart berries peeking in. Tobacco and coffee.
Low carbonation. Thick, viscous, oily, soft, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is intense with a strong sweetness followed by a medium strong bitterness with a tart twist. Aftertaste is bitter with a undertone of dark alcohol. Lingering. Finish is dry.
Potent Baltic boozer.

Pours a pitch-black coloration with a medium, creamy, mocha-colored head. Smells of slightly roasted, caramel malt and a distinct blueberry presence, as well as some chocolate and licorice. Taste is a great balance of slightly roasted, quite caramelly malt, a distinct blueberry presence, lighter chocolate and dark fruit, with notes of raisin and plum, as well as hints of brown sugar and licorice. Finishes on the sweet and fruity side, with a very light bitterness and some blueberry, brown sugar and hints of licorice lingering in the aftertaste. Full mouthfeel with a rich body and light/medium carbonation.
This makes for a rich, quite fruity Imperial Porter with the Bilberries, essentially wild blueberries, shining though quite distinctly. While it is a little too sweet for my personal taste, with the caramel malt and brown sugar notes standing out strongly, the certain acidity of the bilberries and roasted and bitter accents balance this out just well enough. While both balance and complexity could be better here, this still makes for an enjoyable, a little different example of the style, with a rich body and mouthfeel.
