Pours a pitch-black coloration with a small, creamy, mocha-colored head. Smells of slightly roasted, caramel malt, coffee and chocolate, as well as a certain, sweet biscuit presence. Taste follows the nose, with a great balance of slightly roasted, caramel malt and strong coffee and lighter chocolate, as well as that certain sweet biscuit presence, with notes reminiscent of vanilla, brown sugar and pecan nuts. Finishes with a medium sweetness and some chocolate, coffee and pecan nuts lingering in the aftertaste. Full mouthfeel with a medium/rich body and medium carbonation.
While I'm not a huge fan of the style, I think that this is a Pastry Stout done right. Yes, it's rather sweet, a bit too sweet for my personal taste for sure, but those slightly roasted malt and coffee notes balance this out nicely, although that sweet biscuit presence feels rather like artificial flavoring. It's not for me, but a nice enough example of the style, I guess. I'll probably be able to finish this, actually, which is not something that I can say about most of those sickly sweet Pastry Stouts that I've had before. Nope, wasn't able to finish, still way too sweet and artificial.

Can: Poured a pitch-blacl color stout with a large dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of milk chocolate notes with some roasted coffee notes and some sweet lactose notes. Taste is also a mix of floral coffee notes with some lactose and sweet chocolate notes. Body is full with a nice creamy texture and good carbonation.Well brewed pastry stout with a good balance of flavors.
