Almost black, brown foam.
Intense smell, dark, dark malts, roasted, green nptes, chocolate.
Full taste, cappuccino, coffee, chocolate.
Again a lot of herbal noptes, tending to liquorice.
It reminds of an autumn wood. Nuts.
In the finish a light and surprising salty note.
Intriguing, good, it left a good taste, wothout being too complex.

L- Very dark indeed. I just get a hint of ruby though the bottom corner of the glass, when held right in front of a halogen bulb. 5mm fine-bubble mid-tan foam cap which holds up ok.
S- Some nice smokey charring.
T- Deep roast malts, roasty-toasty, minor dark chocolate, then after a few seconds the charred and very slightly smokey aspect comes in with a lick of dry hops. After all the waaay over-sweet black beers I've had recently this is a superb brew. Be in no doubt the flavour is pungent thought, so perhaps best not to plan on registering any more delicate beers after this one.
F- It has a balanced richness to it though, so it's not in the slightest austere or lacking body In fact both the taste + body have taken me by surprise.
O- Probably the best beer I've had from a matt finish 'crafty can' :) This comes over as a trad recipe, rather than anything contemporary or hipster. Beats my expectations by a good distance, a superb beer.
