Kudos for trying to get a difficult style right.
There are reasons to like this quad. It is pleasantly sweet, like a good dessert. And that is how I had it.

But its Looks are not that encouraging (needs foam.) Smells take on the dried dark fruit characteristic of the style. Tastes are largely the same. But I conclude that the richness of the masters is not present here because the yeast is, well, not that rich. Personally, I like they way this sits in my mouth; lacking the prickly carbonation of the Trappists master.. And if I could find another can of this qual, I'd have it again this winter.

Amazingly at 10.8% (on the can), Short Fuse offers this with a very low level of fusels. I really did not detect the alcohol content until it was too late.

I went on Short Fuse's website again (this is my 3rd from them), and they still are somewhat impressive. While they produce their best stuff in the American micro rendition of the British tradition, Short Fuse does so well in an inner suburb near the airport. And to produce a nice Belgian quad for a brewer at such a young age (for Short Fuse), then they certainly deserve the OA Hugs I give them.
