Poured into a narrow imperial pint glass: color is amber, not transparent, head is light tan with frothy mix of bubbles and presents 1.5 fingers thick, head lingers well and laces the glass sides.

Smell is toast, caramel, pale malt, earth, pine, citrus hop character.

Taste is similar to the aroma - toast, caramel, pale barley malt, earth, pine, citrus, light herbal hops.

Mouthfeel is low carbonation, moderate sweetness, moderate bitterness but softened by the malt character.

Overall a very good red IPA - big but not overdone malt character, moderate but not biting hops, and a good balanced feel.

 

 

 

Better than good IPA. Sometimes the hops don’t get through, but a solid offering.
