Sampling a room temp 16 oz can poured into my snifter. the beer was part of gift exchange and is not date stamped on can nor label.
the beer pours more of a brown ale color from the can, not super dark, and sits only slightly darker in my glass. The light source reveals garnet hues around the edges of the glass. A creamy khaki colored head foams up about 1 cm and sticks around as a surface layer throughout the sampling.
Aroma is some roasted malt , hints of dark chocolate, and a little sweeter malt in the back. no hop character and certainly not boozy.
First sip reveals a medium to lighter body with very fine and gentle carbonation. Smooth texture and the beer drinks easy.
Flavor is roasted malt almost to charred wood flavor and some light chocolate notes. But also a little acetic note that seems to hint at infection. I dont get it every sip, but it is there and is sort of hard to miss now that I am tuned into the flavor. No hop character on this beer and without a date stamp I also dont know a brew date to point out, but I think this beer might be dealing with something not great. I wouldnt buy this again in fear that it could be a whole batch. oh well. cant all be winners.

on nitro draft, served in shaker pint glass
black in color, thick off-white colored head with great head retention. Pleasant vanilla and milk chocolate in the aroma. A little more roast in the taste. Smooth full bodied feel from the nitro pour

On tap in pint glass Pours a medium dark brown with a brief tan head. Minimal lacing. Initial impression is coffee, dark chocolate, and roasted malts. Mouthfeel is too thin for a Stout, IMHO - this is more like a Porter. Finish fades to lingering coffee and chocolate.

Pours a rich deep black with a creamy tan head. Smells of chocolate, coffee and dark grains. Tastes of coffee, roast grains and slight bit of fruit. The mouthfeel is smooth but it seems a bit thin for the style. Overall, I will buy this again!
