On-draught @ the brewery. 12oz ran me $6 USD; a 32oz crowler is $20 and they don't do growler fills.
"Barrel Aged stout."
Guessing the barrel is proving tough drinking it; I'm getting faint vanillin only so I'll presume bourbon (no coconut, rich white oak, or barrel sugars here, unfortunately).
Heavy on sugary malty flavours, bringing dark malts, specialty chocolate malts, and creamy caramel but little else - and what's there is shallow.
Smooth, wet, full-bodied, thick, slightly syrupy, well-carbonated, viscous.
It's a shallow stab at one of the most popular oversaturated styles in existence, and it leaves a lot to be desired. I wouldn't buy it again at $6 per 12oz, and frankly I'd sooner have a widely distributed imperial stout like Old Rasputin or Storm King over this - which I guess which is to say the base beer is wanting. Very timid and shallow for a barrel aged imperial stout.
