Bought from The Good Hop in northern the border of Oakland. I wish I lived out west so I could get know East Brother and the East Bay better.
This is a classic maibock: a pretty amber; mostly malt nose; hops used sparingly to keep balance; and bubbly enough to cleanse my mouth. Enjoyed with a panini filled with goat cheese and red onion. All worked together to start correctly an afternoon of touring Sonoma.
East Brother is four and a half years old. Aside for a few awards in state competitions, they have achieved a few other things. First, they settled into Richmond; a town that defies growth, but beer only helps. Two, they have taken seriously their work in the press; listing and linking an impressive amount of mentions in the culinary press. Third, they kept brewing simple; it is the best way to get repeat customers long-term. Good luck !
