It's Daemon with herbs!

This devilishly smooth golden strong clocks in at 8.5% but drinks like 6.0%. Aroma and flavor of ripe pear balanced with white pepper. Effervescence from high carbonation lightens up the rich malt backbone.

WTF Name: It's a riff on "Boy Named Sue" by Johnny Cash. The song was originally written by Shel Silverstein.

Carried from the curb at Beermiscuous.
Two key points.
First and Fortunately, I had this Herb melange with my world-famous vegetable soup that also is heavily spiced/herbed. The beer and my soup had a reasonably good time together. (The difference is my soup is free... and I have it often.)
Second point: this is classified in the wrong style... Herb is way too strong for a Blonde Ale (max 5.1 ABV) and Herb is 8.5... over 70% higher, not even close.
I'd call this a Belgian Strong Pale... but that is not even important because Lo Rez should pull this Herb rendition of Daemon (its older BSPA) and start over.

Too much was piled into this cauldron (with the artwork, almost a witches brew.) I'm not able to analyze the herbs because the hops keep interfering. Herbs are subtle, hops too often are not. I'm also not a big fan of this artist that Lo Rez used on this and a few others of their cans... but that is another matter of less importance for a young brewer to expand its market.

Bottom-line: A variation from Daemon (a BSPA), Herb is an experiment; but its spicing requires balance. Next time, let the herbs and hops play together nice. I'm a fan of Lo Rez, but I expect better from them also.

7/11/22 Herb has been re-released and I'd like to think that they made this more table and food-friendly... it seems so, but today is hot and the alcohol helps. I'm asking to reclassify this since is also is a BSPA on UnTappd.

Served in a Lagunitas mason jar from an aluminum growler filled at Beer on the Wall - Arlington Heights.

Pair her with Peaches, and we've got ourselves a hit duo! Anyway, this stuff pours a clear brass topped by a finger of lightly off-white foam. The nose comprises honey, sweetgrass, light flowers, banana chips, and a twinge of powdered sugar. The taste brings in more of the same, everything louder now; unfortunately, brewing from the back, shoving its way forward, and resting incubus-like on the tongue (it's still staring at me, perched there, the bastard) is a strange herbal flavor - well, I guess it's not all that odd, given the name and description and all - that isn't all that recognizable to me, but it's certainly unwelcome. It's like old vegetable leaves mixed with random dashes from the spice rack. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a sorta/kinda drying finish. Overall, the base may be alright, but this herbed version ain't my cup o' tea.
