Our strong, dark Belgian quadruple ale aged for almost a year in a mix of rum barrels from Far North Spirits (MN) and Twisted Path Distilling (WI). Strong flavors of cane sugar, caramelized sugar, brown sugar.

12 ounce can into a goblet. A late 2020 release, had 9/21/21.
Pours a dark amber, semi- opaque, with a quarter inch, quickly dissipating foamy head and some foamy lacing. Aromas of rum, toffee, caramel, brown sugar, malt, some vanilla, a bit of a spicy aroma. Mostly the same flavors- rum, caramel, malt, vanilla, brown sugar, raisins, some toffee, light oak. Slight alcohol warming. Smooth, a very good medium body, appropriately carbonated.
Somewhat barrel forward, but lots of supportive aromas and flavors. Has an interesting profile, considerably sugar related as they indicated. Not at the top of the style, but definitely very enjoyable.

Carried this can to the curb from Beermiscuous. Good, but definitely needs aging and mellowing; more in the rum barrel and lots more in the bottle (I do not remember a quad being in the can before.)
This is not Lo Rez' first BA quad. The other one was 9% and I suggest they think that closer to the ABV goal because the alcohol in this rum BA is too strong. Raspy on the tongue, the phenolics are not quite like benzene. But it certainly undermines what should be a smooth mouthfeel. The rest of this quad is well above average, particularly the rich, dark fruit Smells. Taste follows closely, but by late palate the alcohol has taken over.
I've had 7 from Lo Rez. I like Lo Rez. I like their dedication to be Belgian-inspired and brew in this most difficult tradition. I want to visit Lo Rez soon and BYOF when Covid is over. But, I will not have their BA quad again... and expect to drive.
