Scottish Stout aged in New Riff bourbon barrels transferred to Buffalo Trace bourbon barrels (thus the double barrel appellation). Copious amounts of cocoa nibs added to the barrel provide a subtle brownie flavor.

Canned on: ????
A - Black pour with thin toffee colored lacing.
S - Faint roasted malt and green apple. Is this infected???
T - Green apple pounds your palate up front with Bourbon fighting to squash it down along with some toasted malt base. The toasty malt shows up on the first few sips but after that the apple takes over again.
M - Medium body with a little bit of thinness around the edges.
O - I've had Barrel Aged beers from this brewery in the past that were quite nice but this one is coming across as infected. Going to tuck the remaining three cans of the 4-pk in the cellar and see how this one does over time. As of right now, would not recommend and stay away from this year's particular Brownie variant. (Sorry to say.)

Black and color with tan head. Bourbon nose is only slight. Bourbon flavor overpowers the brownie that is in the name. Mostly just bourbon flavor unfortunately not much else.

12 ounce can, packaged on 10/04/23. Big thanks to Brutaltruth for this one! Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with not quite an inch tan head that fizzled away kinda quickly. Small amount of lacing. I like the aroma, the brew smells like bourbon, cocoa, vanilla, bready malt and caramel. Taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some oak, burnt/charred malt and and earthy flavors. Good amount of barrel character in both the taste and aroma. Smells a lot like a brownie, tastes somewhat like one too but the barrel packs a punch! Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's slick and a bit rich with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was pretty good, but might need some more time to age to settle down the booziness a bit. Definitely worth trying if you get the chance!
