Sampled on tap at the brewery. Deep, opaque brown in color, with a light tan head and dark caramel highlights. The brewer calls this a black IPA, brewed with candi sugar and Belgian yeast. Very complex aromas and flavors of everything from chocolate and dark roast coffee to citrus, pine, and orange zest. Nicely balanced between the malty sweetness and the hoppy and zesty bitterness. Surprisingly dry finish, with some lingering bitterness. This put me in mind of a hoppy English porter. Very well executed and delicious.
