one of the better overall beers i had in here at barn town, a robust coffee porter, not at all shy with the coffee, and exactly what i needed being somewhere between hungover and drunk again, really solid offering here. not sure what local coffee they use in this, but its quality for sure. dark and low acid, maybe a cold brew blended in, but its not just in the finish here, its prominent from the first smell to the last sip, with big cocoa and dried blueberry notes, light tobacco and anise even, extremely earthy and charry, excellent with the dark malts in here. a little middle sweetness gives nice body and balance against the bitter coffee, and there is a light fudge sort of desserty aspect too, but its not sweet at the end. nice round medium body, frothy and better carbonation than many of them had in here, fresh coffee lingering on the palate after the swallow. a really well constructed beer, drinkable but rich too, well refined, and something i would be drinking regularly if i lived in the area. nice job with this one!
