Ray Murphy was born and raised in Beaverdale and went on to serve in the Air Force. Ray was shot down by German Anti-Aircraft fire over occupied France in April of 1944. He was a B-17 Navigator with the 91st Bomb Group, 324th Squadron - the same unit as the famous crew of the Memphis Belle. He parachuted to safety from his burning aircraft, successfully escaped and evaded German Forces, and spent the next three months fighting alongside the French Resistance. Ultimately he obtained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
This beer is to celebrate not only Ray's service and sacrifice, but also several of my family members who have served, as well to give thanks to all of those who have served, and who are currently serving.
We will be donating portions of the proceeds to the American Heart Association, per Ray's wishes on his obituary.
