A few years ago our friends from Forager Brewery came to visit and we brewed up a big Baltic Porter with honey. It lagered in our tanks for weeks, and then it took a nap in Templeton Rye Whiskey 4 year barrels for 18 months. This beer has no fancy adjuncts, just barrel and beer. A smooth 11.4%

Picked up 3 cans after volunteering at the Free the Whales festival held at Hopfly Brewing in Charlotte 7-1-23. Shared 2 cans last July. Canned 5-25-23; consumed the final can for review 3-20-24. Cold stored since acquisition.
Beer poured black with an okay brown head.
Nose is very nice, getting notes of vanilla and chocolate with mildly roasted malts.
Taste is nice but a tad hot. The large mild roasted malt base takes in the wet rye barrels which i take a way a nice spicy chocolate flavor. Finishes with an alcohol burn which is too bad as this beer is pretty flavorful.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, soft and smooth with each sip.
Overall a flavorful beer that will deliver a lot of alcohol heat.
