8oz glass at Beer Revolution YEG Oliver Square. This doesn't exactly scream out seasonal, IMHO.
This beer appears a hazy, yet bright medium apricot amber colour, with a thin cap of wispy and bubbly off-white head, which leaves a bit of broken webbed lace around the glass as things slowly progress.
It smells of bready and doughy pale malt, some earthy yeastiness, muddled stone fruit flesh, a hint of mixed peppercorns, and very plain leafy, herbal, and musty green hop bitters. The taste is subtle dried mango peel, gritty and grainy pale malt, a further cereal wheatiness, sort of phenolic yeast, white pepper dust, and more understated earthy, leafy, and floral verdant hoppiness.
The carbonation is fairly active in its frolicking frothiness, the body a decent middleweight, and mostly smooth, just a touch of yeast maybe taking the piss a bit too much here. It finishes trending dry, the lingering cereal character most prominent.
Overall - if this didn't have 'mango' right there in the name, I'd be hard pressed to notice it. Otherwise, this is a solid Saison, very earnest in its simplicity. Worthy of checking out, but not if you're only in it for the fruitiness.
