This is an old German-style Oktoberfest lager with a slightly sweet palate and deep toffee-like aromas. An appetizing bitterness serves to balance its complicated malt bill, making Märzen Fest one of the most tantalizing of lagers.

Canned on 8/26/25; consumed on 11/17/25
Pours a crystal-clear, honeyed copper body topped with a finger and a half of off-white foam; solid head retention leaves a vague layer of cap, modest, frothy collar, and myriad webby lacing draping down the walls of the glass. 4.25
Aroma air of minerality opens, dusting of nutmeg, sarsaparilla, brown bread edges, toasted malt undertones persist 3.5
Taste floral overtones, white bread, toffee nut, minerality settles, toasted cereal grain 3.25
Mouthfeel light body, hefty fluff of carbonation deflating to flaky spritz, touch of malty grit grazes, crisp, dry finish 3.25
Fall spice intrigue via slight malty deviations, wavering execution, though ultimately a fun take on the style 3.5

Clear dark orange amber with plenty of foam in the Blanche de Chambly goblet. Inviting toasted grain aroma with an herbal hint. Light and spritzy on the tongue with a malty body. Warm malt taste, plenty of caramel, and a hint of that Maibock gummy taste. The hoppy edge is not overly bitter but provides a distinct leafy, even astringent note. This is a pleasant amber brew but I would not want a big stein of it. The alcohol is rather noticeable in the taste as well. From the 12 oz can purchased at the brewery. Not dated.
