Carried this can from the curb at Bermiscuous, my new go-to for Belgian-inspired ales... particularly those brewed in the Midwest.
Not to elevate DuMont in its first month to classic status, but this could be compared to Domaine DuPage. Both brewers are from suburban Chicago. Both brews are food-friendly ... although DuMont has not been tested by me on a variety of foods. Both keep alive a subtle style that American micros shy from... for which I understand not why. Both seem to understand that this simple style simply does its job subtly with no extreme motions. And to note the obvious, both are "Du"s, of something to become something.
That said, DuMont Looks above average for a style I generally consider good-looking. Smells are mostly malt, but a medley of fruits are in there. Tastes follow closely, a well-integrated ale with the hop balance appearing at mid-palate. Sufficient bubbles to cleanse my palate for another bite of my sandwich.
OA: an accomplishment for a brewer only 40 months old. I'm glad they added DuMont to their portfolio and I hope to test it with dinner soon. Any of their other Belgian offerings I also will welcome. It is too early for me to critique a 40 month old micro, but their business strategy seems unexceptional; yet enough talent to produce DuMont.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
