A Franconian Rotbier. Made in collaboration with the band Psychosomatic, this red lager is here to party.

A good red lager (rotbier in German) that is both traditional (amber-red malt bill) and innovative (hops lean into the American palate.) Bought from Beermiscuous.
Looks sport a somewhat inviting foam on an amber-red body (graphics are a little too-Halloweeny outside of Autumn.) Smells are slightly above average, modestly malty. Tastes are balanced and the hops announce them mid-palate and lend a dry finish. Medium-mouthed for 4.5 ABV.
Only my second from Soundgrowler, the first was when they were 40 months old, I felt they were still to develop as was their website. Now almost double that age, I sense they develop slowly. But I suppose that is OK, after all they had to survive a pandemic. And having chosen an industrial park, they are not in a faster growth location, say, like Tinley's downtown. Maybe I should check in after three more years.

This is a damn good red ale! Sixteen-ounce can into a clear plastic Solo cup because I was too lazy to wash a #proper glass. No matter. Dark reddish-amber color, with a thick light-tan head. Malty and bitter, very dry on the palate, with a light citrusy note and a ton of zesty and pithy astringence on the finish.
Good cookout beer, crushable at 4.5% (not that you'd necessarily want to), and overall a fine representation of the style.
